ANDREW INGPEN : MARITIME PHOTOGRAPHER

A handicapped person, I do aerial, launch-based and wharf-based photography for local and foreign shipping companies e.g. Cunard Line (London – QE2, Caronia), Unicorn Tankers (Durban), Safmarine, SAMTRA, P&O Nedlloyd (London & Cape Town), UK-based publisher for Oriana and Aurora, Rennies Ships Agency, Andrew Weir Shipping (London and Cape Town), Directorate : Tourism, St Helena Island, Deutsche Afrika Linien, World Shipping, Gulf Agency Shipping, and several others.

My photographs have appeared in eight foreign maritime journals (including the cover photographs), a German environmental journal, three South African journals (including cover photographs), local newspapers, and in four maritime books. Maritime Yearbook (2004) contained 22 of my photographs, and more than 30 were used in the DVD presentation at the NDOT Ministerial Maritime Achievers’ Awards Dinner in October 2004.

My special photographic assignments include

* two assignments to St Helena Island and one to Tristan da Cunha Island aboard RMS St Helena for St Helena Line,

* a month-long assignment for St Helena Line aboard RMS St Helena,

* two assignments for P&O Nedlloyd (London) aboard two containerships,

* a 96-day round-the-world assignment for Andrew Weir Shipping (London) to produce advertising material,

* an assignment for SAMTRA aboard a containership for the South African coastal passage

* an assignment for Deutsche Afrika Linien (DAL) aboard their new containership for the South African coastal passage.

* commissioned photography of all the new SAECS containerships (2005 – Lars Maersk, Safmarine Nomazwe, Safmarine Nokwanda, P&O Nedlloyd Heemskerck, P&O Nedlloyd Livingstone, DAL Kalahari)

I have published

* Tourist Guide and posters for the Directorate : Tourism, St Helena Island, posters for Solomons Ltd, St Helena Island; calendars, brochures. folders and postcards for Andrew Weir Shipping (London & Cape Town); brochure, posters and postcards for P&O Nedlloyd (London).

My equipment includes
